I am the proud parent of two sons who are students at St. John School the Evangelist School (SJS). My older son Luke is in the eighth grade, and my younger son Dominic is in the fifth grade. Our time at SJS began when Luke was three years old, and he started in Preschool. It was the first year that the school offered Preschool, and we were ecstatic to begin our journey. This is our 11th year at SJS, and it is so much more than our children’s school. It is a vibrant community that we are blessed to be a part of and actively participate in. I love that at SJS, students and their parents truly lean in and each share their time and unique talents and the result is a vibrant, thriving community that cares deeply and sincerely for one another.
I am a cantor at Saint Oscar Romero Parish, and I have the honor of being the cantor for all the masses at SJS. I feel so blessed to be able to be with the students at mass and lead them in song. I began singing at church when I was in the third grade at Saint Agatha School in Milton and I was taught to be a cantor by Sister Corona MacDonald, SC when I was in the eighth grade. I was the cantor for the Saint Agatha school masses when I was a student, and I continued to love being the leader of song at mass throughout my life. This liturgical music journey that I began when I was young, now gives me a special way to contribute to our SJS school community. My most proud moments are when I cantor at the Saint John School masses and the children smile and sing out loud. Their enthusiastic response to the music makes me feel that I play a role in introducing them to actively participating in the liturgy and joyfully expressing their faith. Saint Augustine beautifully stated that “One who sings prays twice” and I feel that is so true when we gather at mass a community of SJS students, faculty, parents, and parishioners.
My favorite memory at SJS was the 2023 Spring musical production of the Little Mermaid by the SJS Drama Club. Mrs. Sarah Palmer, the Drama Club Director, assembled a cast of 92 SJS students, which was the largest cast SJS ever put on stage. It was the first time that my sons, Luke and Dominic, were in a school show together. A show of this magnitude required many hands, and I had the privilege of designing/building some of the costumes and working on some other aspects of bringing this great show to life such as leading the cast and crew luncheon. Having such an insider’s view to Mrs. Palmer skillfully bring this huge spectacle to the stage and seeing all those children performing such an exciting piece of theatre was very memorable.
I was raised in Saint Agatha Parish in Milton and feel blessed that my parents gave me the gifts of a deep faith and a Catholic education. I am a graduate of Saint Agatha School and Fontbonne Academy in Milton. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH. As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), I work for CW Advisors in Boston as a Wealth Manager where I create long-term financial plans and help my clients achieve their goals. My husband Casey and I have been married for 17 years. Sending our boys to Saint John the Evangelist School in Canton has been the most impactful and meaningful decision that we have made so far for our sons, Luke and Dominic.
